Services we offer include, but are not limited to:

Teeth Cleaning

It is suggested that patients should be seen for a hygiene care appointment and periodic exam every 6 months or as recommended by Dr. Su. During the cleaning, plaque and calculus will be removed from your teeth leaving behind a bright and polished smile. X-rays may need to be taken to help detect possible cavities in between teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays in Upland, CA

Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of x-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged helping the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems easier. Digital x-rays reduce radiation 80-90% compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental x-rays.

Dental x-rays are essential, preventive, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam. Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Without x-rays, problem areas may go undetected.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are necessary when a tooth is severely damaged or has suffered from advanced decay and cannot be fixed with bonded filling material. Crowns cover the remaining tooth and restore its function, strength, and esthetics. Several crown material options are available including non-metal crowns. Dr. Su will discuss these on an individual basis depending on the area of the mouth that needs to be restored.

Bridges can be utilized when tooth loss occurs due to gum disease, decay, or injury. The loss of the tooth can create greater problems for your dental health if it is not corrected. The teeth next to the missing tooth (or teeth) can begin to move and result in pain, discomfort, and can look unsightly. With bridges, our doctors will close any gaps in your mouth. The bridge looks and acts just like natural teeth, is permanently cemented, and helps to maintain the position of the rest of your teeth.

Dentures & Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.

A complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks. During this time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will have to be made.

Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.

Endodontic Therapy (Root Canals)

Root canal therapy is needed when a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth causing an infection of the nerve, or when severe trauma has affected the tooth. Regular checkups with your dentist helps to avoid and prevent the need for endodontic therapy. But once the pulp has become infected, it must be treated to avoid further issues since it cannot heal by itself. Some signs that a pulp is infected include sensitivity to hot or cold foods or liquids, pain, swelling, or even a bad taste in the mouth. For some patients no symptoms are obvious and they are unaware a problem even exists until they are seen by their dentist for an exam.

When endodontic therapy is performed, your dentist will clean out the infected pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. Once the area has been disinfected, the canals of the tooth are filled with a special material to prevent from further infections, and help in the healing of the tooth. Sometimes a core build-up, bonded post, and crown are necessary for restoring a tooth to function.

TMJ Therapy

Your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) reside in front of your ears and play a crucial role in healthy, pain-free jaw motion. When impacted by stress, a misaligned bite, trauma, or a variety of other factors, these joints can malfunction and cause discomfort that disrupts your daily activities. Our dentist treats TMJ-related pain with non-invasive therapies that restore comfortable jaw motion and healthy oral function.

TMJ Symptoms

  • A jaw that clicks or pops
  • Inability to fully open or close your mouth
  • Chronic headaches, including migraines
  • Chronic earaches
  • Tingling in the hands and fingers

We’ll tailor your treatment to your unique needs for a positive outcome and lasting results.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening in Upland, CA

Soon after starting treatment at our office for teeth whitening, you will start to see a whiter and brighter smile. Our office offers a variety of teeth whitening options, including passive tray whitening and professional strength white strips.

With the tray method, you will have impressions of your teeth taken which will be used to fabricate custom vinyl trays. You will place a carbamide peroxide gel in the trays and wear them for about 3 hours or overnight. The tray process takes about 3 to 4 weeks of daily use. There are three different strengths of gel that can be used, but it is important to keep in mind the higher the strength the higher the risk for reactions or tooth sensitivity.

Veneers are thin porcelain or ceramic restoration that are applied and bonded to the front of your existing tooth structure. Porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for correcting gaps between teeth or discoloration from failing fillings or stained enamel.

When applied to the tooth, a veneer is virtually undetectable. Due to its thin nature, the veneer will allow us to be quite conservative in removing tooth structure. With proper design, veneers are beautiful, long lasting, and resistant to stain from tea, coffee and red wine.
